The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s main anti-graft agency, has recovered quite a number of loot from certified looters.

 

According to the EFCC CHAIRMAN, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, between 2015 and 2018, the following has been recovered:

Over ₦794 billion,

Over $261 million,

£1,115,930.47,

€8, 168,871.13,

CFA 86,500.

 

Non-cash recoveries:

Hundreds of properties including

Filling stations

Petroleum products

Landed Property

Assorted Jewellery

Automobiles

Real estate,

Vessels

Hospitals

Company shares

Heavy machinery

Broadcast equipment

 

During the period under review.

407 mansions were seized

126 have been forfeited finally

281 are under interim forfeiture.

9 filling stations are under interim forfeiture.

Forbes Africa, a major global research firm, has rated Nigeria as the 2018 best economy in Africa, beating South Africa, Egypt and others.

 

According to Forbes, Nigeria came top with $172 billion, which was followed by South Africa with $166.735 billion.

 

Also on the list was Egypt as third with $78 billion, Algeria with $66, Lybia :$65, Botswana: $22.675, Ghana :$20.458 Morroco :$18, Ivory Coast :$11 and Madagascar with $6.766 billion.
